Atlanta City Council to consider
authorizing a $3 million donation for
rapid housing
ATLANTA — On Monday, the Atlanta City Council will consider a resolution authorizing a $3 million donation from the housing trust fund to Partners for Home (PFH) to support the provision of quick-delivery housing for the city’s unhoused residents in participation in the rapid housing initiative and to authorize PFH to utilize funds to cover the costs of any other housing construction (24-R-3291).
Other items on the agenda include:
• A resolution authorizing a project management agreement with the PATH Foundation for the Silver Comet Connector — MacArthur Boulevard, NW project in an amount not to exceed $500,000 (24-R-3294).
• A resolution authorizing a $300,000 donation to the Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation for the improvements and repairs of Fire Station 12 (24-R-3293).
• A resolution to call a special election to fill the Council member vacancy in the Atlanta City Council Post 3 At-Large office, provide a qualification period with a fee, and administer a notice in Fulton and Dekalb counties (24-R-3354).
• A resolution to create a commission to determine an appropriate way to honor former Mayor Shirley Clarke Franklin (24-R-3290).
• An ordinance authorizing WorkSource Atlanta to accept a $90,000 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Dislocated Worker Grant for Rapid Response Activities from the Technical College System of Georgia to respond to layoffs and plant closings by quickly coordinating services and providing immediate aid to companies and their affected workers (24-O-1121).
• An ordinance authorizing WorkSource Atlanta to accept a $584,000 WIOA Adult Program Grant from the Technical College System of Georgia. The grant provides funding for various services, including employment and training opportunities, such as registered apprenticeships, subsidized internships, transitional jobs, and on-the-job training (24-O-1122).
• An ordinance to accept a WIOA Dislocated Worker Program grant for $1.6 million. This grant supports employment and training opportunities for program participants who are residents 18 years or older, with a focus on serving veterans, low-income individuals, or those qualifying for public assistance benefits (24-O-1123).
• An ordinance to add $1.5 million from the Park Improvement Fund to provide security support services with POST-certified officers for parks recreational programming, including coverage at public pools, on behalf of the Department of Parks and Recreation (24-O-1113).
