Atlanta City Council Continues Park Pride Partnership for Two More Years

ATLANTA — The Atlanta City Council approved an ordinance to continue its partnership with Park Pride for the coordination of community engagement, volunteer support services, fundraising services, and other services including administration, planning, design, and construction management services for the Department of Parks & Recreation, exercising a two-year renewal option for $90,000 annually, and increasing the amount of donations the vendor can raise to $10 million annually (24-O-1681).

Other items on the agenda include:

· An ordinance modifying the operating hours for all licensed establishments authorized to sell alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption in recognition of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game to be played at Mercedes Benz Stadium (24-O-1688).

· An ordinance approving a nearly $2.7 million agreement for the Homeless and Transient Migration Program at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, for a three-year term beginning retroactively on Nov. 12, 2024 (24-O-1682).

· A resolution donating $300,000 to the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Association to support the provision of legal advice and assistance at the City’s Housing Help Center (24-R-4605)

· An ordinance to add funding awarded from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant Program in an amount not to exceed $100,000 to provide services for federal grant management and comprehensive staff training (24-O-1698).

· A resolution adding $125,000 for installation of pickleball courts in Central Park as part of the Moving Atlanta Forward infrastructure initiative funding (24-R-4661).

· Resolutions authorizing the execution of the first amendment to a pair of emergency procurement agreements for small meter installation, to extend the agreement terms by one year for each at a cost of $1.5 million and $600,000, respectively (24-R-4608, 24-R-4609).

Items introduced for consideration include:

· A resolution authorizing a $4.7 million project management agreement with the Path Foundation for the Proctor Creek Greenway Segment 4 project.

· A resolution approving a $3.9 million project management agreement with the West Side Improvement District for the Chattahoochee Avenue sidewalk installation project.

· A resolution providing $3.7 million for design of the communication and audio-visual systems at the City’s Emergency 911 Operations Center including architectural planning, design, engineering and construction phase services.

· An ordinance authorizing an application for the 2025 Global Mayors Challenge Funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies for $1 million to build a community curbside composting program.

· An ordinance clarifying the respective roles and responsibilities of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Ethics Office and creating separate governing boards for the OIG and the Ethics Office, in accordance with the recommendations of the temporary task force charged with reviewing these matters.

· An ordinance providing a definition of “yard trimmings” and including them in the definition of “litter” so that it will be a violation of the Litter Control Ordinance to throw, dump, sweep, push, blow, deposit, or leave yard trimmings on private or public property.
